Privacy Policy

A plain-English summary of what BG Remover collects, why we collect it, and how to control it.

Last updated · May 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how BG Remover (the "App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the BG Remover iOS application (available on the Apple App Store) and our marketing website at aibgremover.online (together, the "Service").

1. The short version

  • Standard background removal runs on your device. When you use the free, offline removal feature, your photos are processed locally on your iPhone using Apple's Vision framework and never leave the device.
  • AI (cloud) removal is opt-in. You only send an image to our cloud service when you explicitly tap the AI removal feature. Those images are deleted from our servers shortly after the cutout is returned to you.
  • We do not sell your personal data, and we do not sell or share your photos.
  • We do not train AI models on your photos without your explicit, in-product consent.
  • No account required. BG Remover does not require you to sign up to use the App.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Photos and image content

BG Remover needs access to your iOS Photo Library (or to a single photo you pick with the iOS Photos picker) to import images you want to edit. We request only the access you grant through iOS's standard permission prompts (limited or full).

Offline (standard) removal: images are processed entirely on your device. We do not see, transmit, or store them.

AI (cloud) removal: when you tap the AI removal option, the image you selected is transmitted over TLS to our processing service, where it is used solely to generate your cutout. The image and the resulting cutout are deleted from our servers within a short window after processing (typically minutes, and in any event within 24 hours), except as needed for short-term abuse prevention or to comply with law.

2.2 Saved projects (on-device only)

BG Remover stores your in-progress projects, edits, and saved cutouts locally on your device using SwiftData. We do not have access to these projects. If you choose to enable iCloud sync for the App (via your iOS Settings), your projects sync through your private iCloud account, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy — not ours.

2.3 Subscription and purchase data

BG Remover Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the Apple App Store. We do not receive your payment card or billing information. We receive only the limited entitlement data necessary to confirm whether you have an active subscription (for example, a StoreKit transaction identifier and your subscription status). If we use a subscription management provider (such as RevenueCat) to verify entitlements, they process this data on our behalf under a data-protection agreement.

2.4 Diagnostics and usage analytics

We may collect limited, aggregated diagnostics about how the App is used — for example, which features are tapped, anonymized performance metrics, crash reports, and approximate device model and iOS version — so we can fix bugs and improve the App. Where required, this is gated behind an in-app consent prompt and/or your iOS "Share with App Developers" setting. These diagnostics do not include your photos or the contents of your projects.

2.5 Advertising identifiers

If BG Remover displays advertising in the future, we will request your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before tracking you across other apps and websites. You can change this choice anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. We currently do not use the IDFA to track you across other apps.

2.6 Information you send us

If you contact us — for example through the contact page on aibgremover.online or by emailing support — we collect the information you provide (such as your name, email, and the contents of your message) so that we can respond.

2.7 Website data

Our marketing website collects basic, privacy-respecting server logs (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring URL) to keep the site secure and to understand aggregate traffic. The marketing site does not handle your photos.

3. iOS permissions BG Remover may request

  • Photo Library — to import the photos you want to edit and to save your finished cutouts back to Photos.
  • Camera — only if you choose "Take Photo" inside the App.
  • Notifications — only if you opt in (e.g. to notify you when a long-running cloud cutout is ready).
  • Tracking (ATT) — only if BG Remover later shows third-party ads and only with your explicit choice.

You can change any of these permissions at any time in Settings → BG Remover on your iPhone.

4. How we use information

  • To provide and operate the App and its features;
  • To verify your subscription entitlement and unlock Pro features;
  • To prevent abuse, fraud, and content that violates our Terms or applicable law;
  • To fix crashes, improve performance, and ship updates;
  • To respond to your support requests and other communications;
  • To comply with legal obligations.

5. AI training

We do not use your photos to train AI models without your explicit, in-product consent. If we later offer a research or community-improvement program, it will be clearly labeled, optional, and reversible.

6. Sharing

We share information only with:

  • Apple, as required for App Store distribution and StoreKit-based subscriptions and refunds;
  • Service providers (for example, cloud hosting for AI removal, subscription verification, crash and diagnostics, customer support) who process data on our behalf under confidentiality and data-protection obligations;
  • Law enforcement or government authorities when required by applicable law or to protect rights, property, or safety;
  • Successors in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to affected users.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your photos.

7. Data retention

Photos sent to our cloud for AI removal are deleted from our servers within a short window after processing (typically minutes, in any case within 24 hours). Subscription entitlement records are kept while your subscription is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for accounting, fraud-prevention, and legal-compliance purposes. Support correspondence is kept while needed to resolve your matter and for a reasonable period afterwards.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe. You can also delete the App at any time to stop further on-device data collection.

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law.

EU/UK residents have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9. Children

BG Remover is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. International data transfers

We may process information in countries other than the one in which you reside, including the United States. When we do, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your information.

11. Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including encryption in transit — to protect the information we process. Photos that never leave your device are protected by iOS's on-device security. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll provide reasonable notice — for example, by updating the "Last updated" date, posting a notice on our website, or surfacing the change in the App.

13. Contact

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, please reach us via the contact page. You can also report App Store-related issues directly to Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com.
